She has a particular interest in working with complex trauma and psychosomatic issues and has undertaken additional training in these areas.
Izabela's way of workingIzabela works in a holistic and person-centred way. She aims to address the issues raised in therapy on a social, psychological, biological, cultural and physical level. Izabela offers a number of therapeutic approaches including cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), DBT-informed therapy, mindfulness, and intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy. She tailors her approach to meet each individual's needs and preferences and will work with each person to build and maintain a safe and thriving therapeutic relationship.
Izabela is fluent in Polish and is happy to work with people who would feel more comfortable speaking in this language.
Izabela's background and trainingIzabela has worked in a number of different roles in the field of counselling including as an addictions counsellor; as a crisis counsellor in a women's refuge; as a community counsellor; in voluntary counselling roles for a number of organisations; and most recently as a specialist mentor in mental health.
Izabela has a master's degree in Psychology from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Poland; a Diploma in Assaulted Women and Children Counselling/Advocating from George Brown College in Toronto; a Certificate in Informed Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness (Toronto); and additional training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy.
Izabela is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
