She works with a wide range of issues and problems including: anxiety; depression and mood-related issues; anger/aggression; eating disorders and body image issues; relationship issues; bullying; bereavement / grief; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); self-harm; stress; substance misuse; alcohol-related issues; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); Asperger's and many more issues.
She is particularly interested in working with children, young people, and families, as well as working with adults with work-related issues, social interaction, anger, anxiety and stress.
Fiona's way of workingFiona works in an empathetic, non-judgmental way with clients. She treats each person as an individual and tailors her approach according to their specific needs and preferences.
Fiona offers a number of therapies including: counselling (person-centred and psychodynamic), psychotherapy, relationship counselling, and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma and other issues.
As a qualified psychodynamic children and young person counsellor, she is also trained to offer sandtray, play and art therapies. She also offers EMDR for children and she offers systemic therapy for individuals and families.
Fiona's background and experienceFiona has worked in a number of different settings including as a school counsellor in primary and high schools, for a youth community project, within the charity sector, and in private practice. She also has over 30 years' experience serving as an officer in the Royal Air Force (RAF), RAF reserve and Army reserves.
Fiona has a Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People (psychodynamic), a Foundation Certificate in Art Therapy, and a Certificate in EMDR (levels 1 and 2). She is a qualified Systemic Family Therapy Practitioner.
Fiona is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
