Dr Jenny Strachan

Dr Jenny Strachan is an experienced senior clinical psychologist who is chartered by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
She works with adults (age 16+) with a wide range of issues including: depression and low mood, anxiety, stress, self-harm, eating disorders, grief, anger, relationship difficulties, and low self-esteem. She has a special interest and skills in working with individuals adjusting to serious and chronic health problems.
Jenny's way of working
Jenny works primarily within a cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) framework, incorporating elements of related therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), schema therapy and compassion focussed therapy (CFT) depending on each client's individual needs and preferences. She is also an accredited interpersonal therapy (IPT) practitioner.
In addition, Jenny is able to offer supervision to fellow health professionals.
Jenny is a clinical psychologist who as well as working privately, also works part-time in the NHS in oncology and palliative care services. Jenny's qualifications include an MA Hons in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh (2003), an MSc in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care from the University of Dundee (2007) and most recently a Diploma in Clinical Psychology from the University of Edinburgh (2011). She has also undertaken further training with an emphasis on ACT.
