Renata Adwent-Johnson is a counsellor/psychotherapist who works with individual adults with a wide range of issues and problems including: anxiety; depression/low mood; stress; abuse and neglect; anger/aggresssion; assertiveness; autism spectrum disorder; bereavement/grief; body image; bullying; exam stress; life transitions; loneliness; panic; phobias; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); relationship concerns; relaxation; self-harm; and many more issues.

She has particular experience of working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, and abuse. 
 

Renata's way of working

Renata is an open, empathetic and non-judgmental therapist. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is the key to successful therapy and she is committed to building and maintaining a therapeutic relationship with each client based on trust and respect. Her counselling / psychotherapy work is influenced by a variety of therapeutic approaches and ideas including cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. She integrates elements of these into her work to meet the needs and preferences of each individual. In addition, Renata is able to work with people dealing with the impact of trauma using a trauma-informed approach. 

Renata is fluent in Polish and is happy to work with people who would feel more comfortable working in this language.


Renata's background and experience

Renata has a background in psychology and healthcare. She has seven years' experience (five years working as a psychologist in Poland and two years working as a counsellor) providing therapy to a variety of clients including children and young adults, and people with a range of mental health issues. Prior to this, Renata worked as a Healthcare Support Worker with a Mental Health Team. In addition, Renata worked for a number of years as a volunteer counsellor. Renata has worked with people from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds and with a range of mental, emotional and cognitive abilities. 

Renata has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling from the University of Edinburgh; a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills; and an MA in Psychology from The Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland. 

Renata is a member of Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA).

Renata is a member of COSCA and she is on the accredited professional standards register

Renata's fee
