Dimitra Krokou is an experienced CBT therapist who works with individual adults with a wide range of issues and problems including: anxiety; stress; depression; anger; assertiveness; bereavement/grief; health anxiety; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); panic; perfectionism; phobias; procrastination; self-esteem; social anxiety; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); relaxation; sleep issues; trauma; and many more issues. 

She has particular experience working with anxiety disorders such as GAD, panic, social anxiety, health anxiety, OCD, phobias, stress, depression, insomnia, perfectionism and procrastination.

 

Dimitra's way of working

Dimitra works in a compassionate and collaborative way helping clients set realistic goals, supporting them to overcome possible obstacles and enabling them to achieve their personal goals. She tailors her counselling/therapy approach to meet the individual needs and preferences of each person. Her work mainly uses Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and she may combine this with elements from other approaches/therapies including Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Schema Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF-CBT), and Person-Centred Therapy

Dimitra is fluent in Greek and is happy to work with clients who feel more comfortable speaking in this language.
 

Dimitra's background and training

Dimitra has experience providing CBT sessions to adults at NHS medical practices in Edinburgh and Midlothian (on behalf of a mental health charity) and also working as part of a health organisation providing CBT sessions. In addition to her role at First Psychology, Dimitra works with university students with a range of issues.

Dimitra has a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Glasgow Cognitive Therapy Centre, a Master's Degree in Health Psychology from the University of Stirling, and a Bachelor in Psychology from the University of Crete. 

Dimitra is a registered member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
 

Dimitra's fee
