Artis Orbis is an experienced counsellor / psychotherapist who works with individual adults, couples and adult families with a wide range of issues and problems including: anxiety; depression/low mood; stress; anger/aggression; bereavement/grief; body image; chronic illness; domestic abuse; eating disorders; gender/sexual identity; habitual behaviours; life transitions; living with cancer; loneliness; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); relaxation; self-harm; sexual addiction; trauma/PTSD and many more issues. 

He has particular experience of working with trauma, sexual abuse, bereavement, depression, and anxiety. 
 

Artis's way of working

Artis is a compassionate and empathetic therapist who works with each individual in a way that best meets their needs and preferences. He takes a creative and healing approach, aiming to build a strong therapeutic relationship with each person and intregrating a number of different counselling/psychotherapy approaches and techniques into his work. These include: Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBT), Compassion-Focussed Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy, and Coaching. He may also use tools such as writing, drawing and body movement to enable self-exploration.

Artis aims to support the healing journey of each person by providing an environment in which they feel respected and safe to explore their issues and experiences. He welcomes diversity and he has worked in a number of different countries/cultures supporting people with a range of mental health conditions. 

As well as English, Artis is fluent in Latvian and Russian and he is happy to work with clients who feel more comfortable speaking in these languages.
 

Artis's background and experience

Artis is an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist who has worked in a variety of roles in the field of mental health in a number of countries including Latvia, Belgium and Canada. Most recently Artis worked as a counsellor in a university counselling service and in private practice; as a mental health mentor/coach supporting university students; and provided mental health nursing in the NHS. 

Artis did a Postgraduate level training in Counselling at Persephone College in Stroud, Gloucestershire; a Diploma course in Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapy at ReVision, London; and he has a Diploma in Jungian Psychology.

Artis is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
