Fiona Switzer, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
Fiona is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist who is accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Her background is as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) since 1997 and she remains registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
She gained her post-graduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy from the University of Dundee in 2000, while working in the field of substance misuse, then went on to practice Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in a psychology setting for a further eight years.
She has worked extensively as a clinical tutor, lecturer and supervisor to psychology and CBT students at Dundee University, Stirling University and Queen Margaret University. Fiona also supervises experienced professionals and clinicians. She has experience of running stress management sessions for groups.
Fiona has worked in a variety of settings, including GP surgeries, private practice, and the NHS. Before moving into private practice she had over 10 years' experience working in the field of mental health and psychology in the NHS with adults. She therefore has experience using cognitive behavioural psychotherapy across the full spectrum of mental health and psychological issues.
She currently works with clients (over 17 years old) who are seeking help to make changes in their lives. Fiona works with individuals who are experiencing difficulties with anxiety, trauma, depression, phobias/panic, obsessive compulsive disorder(OCD), anger, relationships, grief, workplace difficulties, substance misuse problems, eating disorders, general lifestyle adjustment issues and managing stress. She has experience in working with people struggling with self esteem, confidence issues and can help with assertiveness. She also has experience of working with people with personality difficulties.
In addition Fiona is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) which is a specialist treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). She trained to Level 1, EMDR in 2008 with Sandi Richman a leading,UK EMDR trainer.
Fiona charges £65 a session for self-funding clients. She has a range of fees for employers and organisations that are available on request.
