About therapy - counselling & psychological services

Therapy is a term often used to describe counselling, cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) and psychotherapy. These are all activities designed to improve things when they are not right. These approaches have much in common and use 'talking' to understand what is wrong and to explore ways of changing things.

Issues therapy can help with

Therapy can help with a number of issues such as depression, low mood, stress, anxiety, fears, phobias, trauma (including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anger management, eating and body image issues such as anorexia and bulimia, self-harm, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), abuse and many, many more issues.

Choosing a therapy type

There are many different types of therapy that can be used to help clients make things better. At your first appointment, your therapist will talk with you about your problems and issues and suggest a treatment plan tailored to your needs. This may include using only one type of therapy or may include a combination of approaches. Click here to see therapy and coaching options available at our Edinburgh centre

Picking a therapist to work with

Our therapists are all fully qualified, experienced professionals. However, it is important to feel comfortable with your therapist / practitioner so we have included detailed information about all our practitioners so you can choose who suits you best. We are always happy to help you make the decision and don't forget you can always change to a different therapist if things aren't working for you. Your therapist will not be offended.
